NECSTouR Joins ETOA's Strategic Partner Meeting to Foster Sustainability in Tourism

    07/05/2019

Last 7th of May, NECSTouR has been invited as a Strategic Partner by the European Tourism Association (ETOA) to brainstorm and plan future actions to optimise the European collective resources and skills in order to lead debate and take practical action in the long-term interests of destinations, tourism and the visitor economy.

Strategic Alliance with ETOA. In the framework of a cooperation started one year ago through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding, the meeting has been the opportunity to reinforce the joint cooperation between NECSTouR and ETOA in the field of sustainable tourism.

Tourism Partnership. Beside NECSTouR representatives and Mr Tom Jenkins and Mr Tim Fairhsut - respectively Director and Director of Policy at ETOA - the meeting has been attended by the European Travel Commission and CELTH, to form a joint public collaboration in relation to sustainability .

Destination Management. The meeting started from the consideration that ‘Sustainable tourism’ is not only about product and service, it is also about destination management, politics and process.

Change of perspective. Developing mutual understanding and building a consensus for change among private and public sector stakeholders has been another point of discussion.

Next steps. The cooperation among ETOA, NECSTouR, ETC and CELTH will continue in the course of the upcoming months, also in view of the ETOA’s “Tourism in transition” event in Lucerne 1st October 2019.
