NECSTouR Members Projects: Choose your Favorite Destination

    02/05/2012

NECSTouR supports the Favourite Destinations Research Network

The holistic approach to sustainability and competitiveness of tourism destinations includes inevitably considering the "customer's voice". Indeed, tourists and visitors are quintessential for tourism destinations. And on the basis of this elementary axiom that without tourists a destination could not even exist, an international network of tourism researchers is carrying out a worldwide survey: worldwide favourite destinations.

This research privileges the primacy of consumers and conceptualizes destinations from the demand point of view as mental categories of the current and/or potential tourists (e.g., their perceptions, images, associations and preferences). In order to get information related to customers' "dream" and "favourite" destinations directly from their mind, the methodological option in this study consists of an online survey with open-ended questions, using free recall techniques. We all are tourists!

And people from all over the world are invited to collaborate in this worldwide research, by answering this online survey. Therefore, to fill in the survey, people from all over the world are invited to choose one of the many linguistic versions at their disposal.  In fact, being a tourist does not necessarily mean that you are able to speak a foreign language. So, to allow all tourists to answer in their mother tongue or in a familiar language, a multilingual online platform was created - the Tower of Babel platform. It includes 34 different languages. Please, find below the link to your linguistic version (your mother tongue or at least one language you know better):European languages:
