NECSTouR presents at the 6th UNWTO International Conference on Tourism Statistics

Between the 21st and 24 of June, UNWTO has organized the 6th International Conference on Tourism Statistics focusing on Measuring Sustainable Tourism at sub-national levels.

The conference gathered High Level speakers who were debating on important topics related to the possible measurements of sustainable tourism. Attention has been paid to the increased need of creating a statistical framework to facilitate such process, but also on measuring different dimensions of tourism sustainability.

NECSTourR was represented by Ms. Ana Moniche and Immaculada Gallego, who presented the good practices of Andalusia Region during the panel discussions on producing data for sustainable tourism.

In their intervention, Ms Moniche and Ms. Gallego discussed about Andalucia working with statistically based indicators for policy management through the Indicators System for Sustainable Tourism Development for Andalusia.

Within NECSTouR, the indicators focusing on measuring sustainable tourism development are based on agreed definitions and methodologies provided by bodies such as the UN and UNWTO aiming to monitor tourism performance at sub-national levels.
