CrossCulTour: Workshop & Final Event

07/09/2011 Brussels (BE)

The workshop will present achievements of the project "CrossCulTour - Cross Marketing Strategies for Culture and Tourism", as well as European cultural tourism networks such as NECSTouR and the European Cultural Tourism Network and best practice examples within heritage management and cultural tourism marketing. In the evening a political debate on "future policies and funding for cultural tourism" will take place with experts and politicians. Based on the Romanesque heritage route, transromanica, CrossCulTour embraces further stylistic periods and cultural elements of the Regions, establishes collaboration with marketing partners linked to cultural heritage and promotes cross-sector cooperation.

International congress on ethics and tourism

The General Assembly of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) adopted in 1999 the World Ethical Code for Tourism that envisages consumer protection, corporate social responsibility, children protection, cultural and environmental sustainability, cultural dialogue and the vision that tourism is an enhancer of development and human rights. In this respect, the General Secretary of Tourism and Commerce of Spain together with the UNWTO will hold in Madrid the 1st International Congress of Ethics and Tourism, which foresees the participation of the Vice presidency of the European Commission.

The European Tourism Day (ETD)

Topic: "Industrial heritage: differentiating the European tourism offer"

Organised by the European Commission (DG ENTR, Tourism Unit), the participants of ETD 2011 will discuss how the preservation and promotion of the European industrial heritage may contribute to the diversification of the tourism offer in Europe, and how - at the same time - tourism development strategies may be key alternatives to avoid job-losses and economic depression in abandoned industrial areas.

NECSTouR has been invited to present best practices and indicators related to industrial tourism.
