Patrick Torrent Presents the 6 NECSTouR Recommendations for the EU Joint Promotion in 2017

 

Patrick Torrents - President of NECStouR - intervened during the closing panel of the European Tourism Day 2016 and presented the 6 NECSTouR recommendations for "Joint Promotion of Tourism and Cultural and Creative Industries in third Countries" for 2017.

2017 will be a particular year, that the United Nations declared as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

Mr Torrent listed 6 clear points that every actor of the EU Tourism Policy is now invited to follow in order to improve the EU Tourism Policy for a so important upcoming year.

1) More #Marketing and less policy tourism
2) Less brand and more #Values, such as sustainability and competitiveness
3) Sell #Experiences instead of destinations
4) Especially develop #Whattouristswants
5) Much more #Online instead of offline promotion
6) Work on #Fidelisation of Tourists

 

This 2016 edition of the European Tourism Day has been particularly dedicated to the Regional Perspective.

The Opening Political Debate has been dedicated to "Policies for investiments in Tourism, Culture and Creativity". 5 Regional Representatives take the floor and 5 among them were from a NECTouR member Region:

Ms Loredana Capone, Minister for Tourism and Culture of Puglia Region, Italy. She underlined the importace of Tourism ad an Industrial Sector. In order to make it sustainable, she claimed for a clear planning, skills and professional know-how. She finally remembered the importance of dialogue and culture for the European Tourism of tomorrow.

Mr Lars Nordström, Vice President of the Cultural Committee of the Region Västra Götaland, Sweden. He put on evidence challenges and opportunities of a Northern Territory and he underlined the importance of Nature and Culture for his territory. He concluded by stating how they really have the sustainable tourism and are engaged in order to promote it.

Mr Peter de Wilde, CEO of Visit Flanders and President of the European Travel Commission. He focused on the investments Visit Flanders is doing in the field of tourism and especially in Culture. He especially promoted tourism as a fundamental human rights, which has to be accessible to everybody ansd especially to the people with fiew financial means.

 

The final intervention of Mr Torrent was part of the last panel of the day. It was especially dedicated to "Joint Promotion of Tourism and Cultural and Creative Industries in third Countries".

The event was also an occasion for Mr Torrent to meet with Mr Hanspeter Wagner, Rapporteur of the NAT Commission of the Committee of the Regions. Read more about this meeting
