Spirit Youth Pilot Test in the Netherlands

Is possible to make an intense spiritual experience for a young person visiting South Limburg?
Apparently the Netherlands are one of the most secularised countries in the world and young people are really not interested on traditional spirituality.

However, the Pilot test of the Spirit Youth that took place from the 24th to the 27th of January in Valkenburg and its surroundings clearly showed up a very interesting and multiple touristic offer for young people interested on spiritual tourism in this area.

The 29 young people from 10 different EU Countries had a really intensive programme and experienced very different destinations: from the roman catacombs of Valkenburg to the Thermae 2000, from the Abbey of Rolduc to the bare footpath in Brunssum and without forgetting about the visits to the Wittem Closer and to the spiritual sites of Sittardt.

"It has been really a great experience - said Tomaso Comazzi, from the NECStouR Permanent Secretariat, at the end of the week - and I was especially impressed by the different spiritual background of every participant. This means that spirituality matter a lot for many young people in European and the touristic offer should be adequate and wide. At the same time, I noticed that all of us we were particularly interested on some experienced. This means that there are some excellencies that should be particularly promoted!"

Other two members from the Permanent Secretariat of NECSTouR  had been involved as well: Gergö Krucso from Hungary and Alexandru Constantinescu from Romania.

The group was followed and animated by Mr Harry Timbros, from the Tourism board of South Limburg.
