NECSTouR at the Global INSTO Meeting 2017

 

The last intervention of this year 2017 of NECSTouR has been at the Global INSTO Meeting 2017, on the 14th of December 2017 in Madrid.

NECSTouR Working Group Leader on Indicators presented how Sustainable Tourism Indicators can help policy makers on the better management of Mediterranean Destinations.

The MITOMED+ Project has been presented as a particular good case in this sense.

12 Parks from 10 NECSTouR Regions awarded at the EUROPARC Charter Award Ceremony 2017

 

Another important acknowledgment to the work of NECSTouR Regions towards a more competitive and sustainable tourism has been obtained today at the "Charter Award Ceremony 2017", organised by EUROPARC Federation to celebrate the work of Protected Areas towards the implementation of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas.

NECSTouR's priorities for the upcoming year 2018 presented at the European Tourism Day

 

"In NECSTouR we believe that the European Tourism has already the hardware - meaning the products and the infrastructures - and it is time now to invest on the software - meaning innovation and skills"

With that words, Mr Patrick Torrent - NECSTouR President, Catalonia Region - intervened at the European Tourism Day, organised by the European Commission in Brussels on the last 28th of November.

NECSTouR President calls for a European Tourism Strategy at the Tourism High-level Conference in Tirol

 

"We cannot leave tourism work alone! It is our responsibility as policy makers - at all levels - to conduct joint investment profitable side by side with the industry which wishes to innovate and has to innovate!"

With that words, Mr Patrick Torrent - NECSTouR President, Catalonia Region - presented one of the NECSTouR priorities for the future on the occasion of the High-level conference on "Tourism: a key industry to invest into Europe's future", which has been held on 27 November 2017 in Innsbruck (Tirol).

The Spirit Youth Project presented in Fatima as a good example of Regional Sustainable Religious Tourism Development

 

Which is the Role of Regions and local communities on the development of Sustainable Religious Tourism? Mr Patrick Torrent, Catalonia Region intervened during the International Congress on Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage, organised in Fatima by the UNWTO in the framework of the International Year on Sustainable Tourism Development (IYSTD) 2017.

Subnational Measurement: NECSTouR Experience on Sustainable and Accessible Tourism at Move Conference 2017

 

The MOVE Conference 2017 has been the opportunity for NECSTouR to transmit what  its members are doing for the development of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Tourism, sharing and influencing regional policies when it comes to implementation to SDGs.

NECSTouR Experience on how to Create Smart and Sustainable Tourism Destinations

 

The main focus of Mr Patrick Torrent - NECSTouR President, Catalonia Region - intervention at the "Trends & Dynamics'17 - Mega Drivers for Future Tourism" Event, was on three fundamental questions: How to assure a sustainable balance between visitors and residents?  How can big data meet tourism? How can collaborative models help to better manage destinations?

Initiave on Safe Digital Tourism at the "GROW your REGIOn"

 

On the 8th of November, the three leading regions of the initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism" had the opportunity to attend the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation organised in the framework of the Conference GROW your REGIOn on the 8-9 November in Valencia.

Discussing on Spirtual Tourism with the Marketing Circle Limburg

 

The 26th of October 2017 the Tourist Board South-Limburg, in the person of Mr Harry Trimbos ( manager European Projects), participated in the seminar, organized by the Marketing Circle Limburg, on Spiritual tourism: does silence sell?.

Present were policy-makers from the Provincial Government, city councils and entrepreneurs.

President Torrent presents sustainable Tourism managments' solutions at the Mediterrània Xàbia Forum

 

Mr Patrick Torrent, NECSTouR President, Region of Catalonia, intervened at the Mediterrània Xàbia Forum, during the first round table, focused on the challenge of the sustainable management of the tourism destinations.
The event has been organised on the 26th and 27th of October in the city of Xàbia (Region of Valencia).

Sustainability and Tourism Competitiveness: NECSTouR moderates the debate in Lanzarote

 

In the breathtaking framework of the “Auditorio Jameos del Agua” in Lanzarote, NECSTouR Regional experience contributed into the debate over Sustainability and Tourism Competitiveness, organised by the Responsible Tourism Institute and with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, both members of NECSTouR.

NECSTouR and South Limburg presented their 6 A's for a Sustainable Tourism at the European Tourism Forum 2017

 

Area, Access, Accommodation, Attractions, Awareness and Activation are the six A's for the energy efficiency, protection of natural resources and environmentally friendly measures towards a more Sustainable Tourism which Ms Anya Niewierra - Director of South Limburg Tourism Board - presented at the 16th European Forum in Tallin.

Per each of that six A's Ms Niewierra presented some good practices from South Limburg (in the Netherlands) and other NECSTouR member Regions.
