NECSTouR Permanent Secretariat and representatives from the other Members involved in this project – Tuscany Region, Andalusia, Porec’s Institute of Agriculture and Turism and the Univesity of Girona - attended the second project meeting of MITOMED+ Project, on the 10th and 11th of October, in Girona (ES).
In order to deliver a NECSTouR big picture on the Talent Development in Tourism, NECSTouR President, Region of Catalonia - Mr Patrick Torrent - presented the experiences of Catalonia, Emilia Romagna, the Valencian Community and the Business University of Prague.
That presentation happened during the 2nd UNWTO Global Conference on "Talent Development in Tourism: strategies for Competitive Destinations", organised in Marbella (Andalusia), from the 8th to the 10th of October 2017.
The NECSTouR Leader on Cultural Tourism, Mr José Luis Maestro, represented the network at the 7th Cultural Routes Advisory Forum, Celebrating in Lucca (Italy) from the 27th to the 29th of September the 30 year of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
At the occasion of the World Tourism Day 2017, 8 European Regions launched a partnership to foster investment on Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism under the Platform for Industrial Modernisation!
At the occasion of the World Tourism Day 2017, Mr Patrick Torrent - NECSTouR President, Region of Catalonia – intervened during the High-level conference on Tourism "A European strategy to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism industry, a key driver for job creation" organised by the President of the European Parliament, Mr Antonio Tajani, on the 27th of September in Brussels.
On the 14th of September 2017, NECStouR has been invited to intervene at the General Assembly of the Holiday Home Association (EHHA).
Our co-leader of the Working Group on Digital Platforms presente the activities of NECSTouR in the field of Short-term rental associations and our vision on the collaborative economy, during the panel focused on the "Short term rental in regions".
She was also part of the jury which selected the EHHA's Awards for this 2017, assigned at the following Gala Dinner.
How Hiking tourism related products enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of our tourism destinations?
The Hiking Europe initiative (leaded by the region of Catalonia), aiming to promote a transnational network of rural touristic routes structured in several hiking itineraries across Europe, is looking for NECSTouR experiences on Hiking tourism initiatives developed at regional level.
On the 11th of September 2017, NECSTouR has been officially approved as one of the new Associate Members of the World Tourism Organisation of the United Nations (UNWTO) on the occasion of the 39th Meeting of the Plenary of the UNWTO Affiliate Members.

It was the 5th of March 2012 when the first Hop-on came out in the mailboxes of all the NECSTouR Members.
Members were already used to receive the NEWSTouR, the official external newsletter of NECSTouR. However, that was the first newsletter with a specific content completely dedicated only to them.
