High Level Conference on Sustainable Tourism & EMAS Awards 2017

Join us in Valletta, Malta to attend the High Level Conference on Sustainable Tourism and the EMAS Awards 2017 that will take place on 8 May 2017. The Conference aims to discuss the potential of the tourism sector to contribute to the three pillars of sustainability – economic, social and environmental.

EU Green Week

EU Green Week is your annual opportunity to debate and discuss European environmental policy. Organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment, this key event in the environment policy calendar attracts policymakers, leading environmentalists, stakeholders and other interested parties from across Europe and the globe. EU Green Week 2017 will take place from 29 May to 2 June with the theme of 'Green jobs for a greener future'.

International Forum For Responsible Tourism

The Amfiteatru Foundation is organizing the fourth edition of the International Forum for Responsible Tourism. The event will take place in Bucharest between April 27-29th and the theme of this edition is "Responsible tourism in an urban space: identities and experiences of a metropolis". Responsible tourism is a powerful concept for understanding that travel and hospitality are directly connected in a relationship based on respect for community values.

ETIS and Accessible Tourism Conference organised by the European Commission DG GROWTH

At this event sustainability and accessibility were presented as complementary strategies to successfully manage and promote tourism destinations.

The purpose of the event was to:

  1. present the results of the second ETIS pilot testing phase, including recommendations and the revised toolkit of ETIS
  2. identify policy priorities for accessible tourism in destinations, in particular focusing on accommodation, transport, attractions and customer satisfaction
  3. present a promotion strategy for Europe as a 'Sustainable Tourism Destination for All'

This plan is part of the General Plan for Sustainable Tourism of Andalusia Horizon 2020, co-financed by ERDF & EARDF. Tourism is one of the 8 priorities of the S3 in Andalusia: “Priority 4. Strengthening Andalucía as a tourism destination, culture and leisure.”

 

Regional strategy for accessible tourism: The Tourism Pact 2020 contains the strategic goal to build a sustainable, accessible Flanders for all. The region aims to become an over-all accessible travel destination, with a high international reputation.
Visit Flanders’ Accessibility Action Plan consists of three parts: infrastructure, training and information. It has inspired a general building decree from the Flemish authorities for public infrastructure.

Innovative Actions for Growth and Jobs: NECSTouR Good Practices on Tourism and Culture

To develop Tourism and Culture in Europe throught innovative actions for Growth and Job is possible and it has been showed by a NECSTouR's Catalogue of good practices collected among its member Regions on the occasion of the 13th European Tourism Forum.

The Catalogue contains 30 good practices dealing with Training and Education in Tourism, Digitalisation and Innovation in Tourism, Sustainable Mobility and Access to Destinations, Synergies between culture and tourism for Growth and Jobs: Cultural Itineraries.
