Visit Scotland advocates for Sustainable Tourism Growth in a Changing Climate at their Annual St Andrew's Lecture

Lord Thurso, Chair of Visit Scotland, a member of NECSTouR, delivered this year’s St. Andrew’s Lecture on 26 November in Brussels. Almost 100 representatives from the tourism industry, networks, EU institutions, academics, journalists and other stakeholders were attending, including NECSTOuR permanent secretariat.

NECSTouR and South Limburg presented their 6 A's for a Sustainable Tourism at the European Tourism Forum 2017

Area, Access, Accommodation, Attractions, Awareness and Activation are the six A's for the energy efficiency, protection of natural resources and environmentally friendly measures towards a more Sustainable Tourism which Ms Anya Niewierra - Director of South Limburg Tourism Board - presented at the 16th European Forum in Tallin.

Per each of that six A's Ms Niewierra presented some good practices from South Limburg (in the Netherlands) and other NECSTouR member Regions.

Call for interested regions on HIKING EUROPE

By the end of Sepember 2017, the  HIKING EUROPE  project (co-financed by COSME programme) aiming  to promote a transnational network of rural touristic routes structured in several hiking itineraries across Europe and gathering 8 members from 6 different EU countries: Spain (Catalonia), Italy (Emilia- Romagna), Croatia (Dubrovnik-Neretva), Ireland (Donegal), Austria and Germany,  arrives to its end.

Sustainable Certification: a Competitive Advantage for Tourism Destinations

The Catalan Government organised a twofold event: EU Ecolabel awards on Tourism Accommodation, handed by the Catalan Regional Minister of Territory and Sustainability and a Raising awareness session to introduce the EU Ecolabel on Tourism Accommodation to the Catalan sector: how to endorse it, what are the benefits (quality, efficient management of natural assets, local consumption, jobs), what are the marketing opportunities (new branding, positioning, innovation, sustainable growth).
