Researches from Links Foundation (previously SiTi) are authors of this publication edited by the Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.

Which is the maximum number of people who can visit a site, without compromising its environmental, physical, economic and socio-cultural characteristics and without reducing tourist satisfaction?

SiTi (and then LINKS) applied this evaluation for several UNESCO sites and reports in this study their experience.

2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH). Acknowledging the unique momentum of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, NECSTouR - the European Network of Regions for Competitive and Sustainable Tourism - took the initiative to establish a Pan European Dialogue to foster greater synergy between tourism and cultural stakeholders.

Travel to Tomorrow by Visit Flanders

Visit Flanders and the Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs launched a co-creative thinking process, together with various tourism partners and stakeholders, about the transformative power of tourism for the visitor, the resident, the entrepreneur and the destination.

The NECSTouR Barcelona Declaration "Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit" was an inspiring source in this ongoing process.

Winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2019 Announced

 

The winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2019 have been announced in the Hague last 21st of May 2019.

Among the 25 winners are also outstanding tourism-related projects which could be interesting for the work and future projects of NECSTouR:

Commonlands: Cultural Community Mapping in Alpine Areas, ITALY

The Mediterranean, the meeting point of the oldest Civilizations, in an international exhibition that brings hundreds of artifacts and tools from the Neolithic Age to Late Antiquity in Sardinia.

A dialogue with many voices awaits its spectators in Cagliari, from February 14 to June 16, 2019, in two beautiful locations – the National Archaeological Museum and Palazzo di Città.

Call for Destinations: Deadline for Applying for the Awards 2019 "Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism" extended until the 15 July

The 2019 edition of the Awards for ‘Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism’ is organised by the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) and it is open to all tourist destinations across Europe, national, regional and local authorities, tourism boards and associations, destination management organisations, museums, interpretation centres, festivals and cultural NGOs.

3rd International Conference on Tourism and History

 

The 3rd International Conference on Tourism and History - IIIT&H 2019 - will be organised in Faro (Portugal) and Caxias do Sul (Brazil), on the 28th and 29th of M arch 2019.

Mr José Luis Maestro from the Galicia Region has been invited as leader of the NECSTouR Working Group on Cultural Tourism to present the Barcelona Declaration "Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit".
