Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU places higher Tourism in the EU Political Agenda

 

Tourism is a priority for this Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January-June 2019) , who is negotiating with the Member States in order to propose to the upcoming European Commission a new Communication on Tourism.

NECSTouR and the European Tourism Manifesto for Growth and Jobs are willing to strongly support this initiative.

Survey to Evaluate the "European Strategy for more Growth and Jobs in Coastal and Maritime Tourism"

 

Most European policies and economic activities directly or indirectly influence Coastal and Maritime Tourism (C&M), which can be a driver for economic growth. Moreover, the 72 percent of NECStouR Regions are C&M Tourism Destinations.
For both that reasons, C&M Tourism is a key priority within the strategy of NECSTouR.

A new way of working: CoR Task Force puts local and regional governments at heart of EU law-making

 

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) today welcomed a wide-ranging set of recommendations that would give local and regional authorities a greater say, alongside national authorities, on the preparation, adoption and implementation of EU policies, noting that the ideas would benefit citizens, increase EU efficiency and improve politics.

INTERNAL CONSULTATION: Hearing About Brexit and Tourism

 

The next Meeting of the European Parliament's Commission for Transport and Tourism - TRAN - will gather in Brussels on the 25 April 2018.
For that occasion, the TRAN Secretariat is preparing a hearing about the impact of Brexit in the tourism of EU.

Initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism" presented at the European Tourism Day 2018

On the occasion of the European Tourism Day 2018, Ms Eija Raasakka, Project Manager at the Lapland University of Applied Sciences, has been invited - as co-leader of the initiative - to present the initiative "Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism", under the Smart Specialisation Platform for Industrial Modernisation (S3P-Industry), by the European Commission.

Event

Showcase Conference on Tourism

 

The European Commission is organising a Showcase Conference on Tourism that will take place in Brussels on 19 March 2019.  

The aim of the event is to showcase the added-value of EU support for tourism projects under the COSME programme, to inspire more cooperation and participation from the tourism industry in the EU projects and to stimulate reflection on future EU support for tourism projects. 

Ministerial conference "Sustainable Tourism - Common Policies of EU Member States"

 

Tourism has been anncounced as a strategic priority of the Romanian Presidency of the EU.

A Ministerial conference on “Sustainable Tourism – Common Policies of EU Member States” will be organised from the 1st to the 4th of April 2019 on three main topics:

Regional Cruise Dialogue for the Atlantic, the North Sea and the Arctic

 

After the previous editions in the previous years dedicated to the Mediterranean and the Baltic, this year's edition will be focused on the Atlantic, the North Sea and the Arctic and it will continue a regional approach to foster solutions for cruise tourism and to bring stakeholders closer together in a common effort for a more sustainable and competitive sector in this area.

The Region of Flanders will intervene on behalf of NECSTouR in the opening session and during th epanel debate.

The event is organised by the European Commission.
