Last 1st of July, the NECSTouR session "Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit, from the Declaration to the Action” established an enriching exchange between the NECSTouR members on how the residents are participating into the tourism policies, initiatives and products/experiences.
 
This one-hour session showed how much progress has been made by NECSTouR Members, since 2018, in transforming the "Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit" Declaration into action.
 
Andalucia, Catalonia, Galicia, the German-speaking Community of Belgium, Finnish Lapland, Swedish Lapland, Liguria, Navarra, Västra Götaland, Visit Scotland and the University of Girona shared some examples on how they are leading a behavioral change within their organizations and the tourism ecosystem to engage with their residents and community.

It was clearly stated that sustainable tourism it also means looking for the wellbeing of the residents and communities. In fact, one of the foremost objectives of the Members is to ensure that tourism brings added value to the local community economically, environmentally, socio-culturally but also in term of values, intercultural relations and experiences.

The transformation processes the tourism managing authorities and DMOs are experiencing in this recovery moments includes their leadership to make effective public – private – community partnerships within the tourism ecosystem while taking advantage of the uses that new technology and digitalization can bring to it
