The Government of Flanders is freezing the export of strategic goods and fully supports the EU package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, in the full realization that these measures may have consequences for its own region’s welfare

The Government of Flanders is freezing all diplomatic contacts with Russia as well as its collaboration with Russian governmental institutions.

The Government of Flanders is also making an active contribution to the European decision-making concerning this conflict.

Flanders shall aim to follow the policy/guidelines that are laid down in the Belgian and European coordination mechanisms, with regard to the relevant international organisation.

Measures taken

The Government of Flanders is setting up a task force to coordinate the reception of Ukrainian refugees.

Housing, education and psychological help are the initial priorities.

The Government of Flanders is making altogether 1 million euros available in the short term for humanitarian crisis relief.

The Government of Flanders is providing 1000 euros for each place that a city or municipality can offer for a period of three months.
