Île-de-France and Paris lost two-thirds of their tourists in 2020

"The partial closure of borders and restrictive measures have severely restrained the mobility of French and international travelers". After January's partial release, Ile-de-France region report on the entirety of the year 2020.

Only 33.1 million passengers arrived through Ile-de-France airports in 2020, which is a drop of 69% compared to the previous year. Paris Île-de-France recorded a historic drop in attendance with a loss of more than 33 million tourists compared to 2019.

The turnover of hotels has decreased of 60% for budget hotels in the Ile-de-France region outside Paris and nearly 85% for high-end Parisians. The activity of cultural and leisure venues is severely affected with more than 50% drop in attendance for most of the destination's sites (more than 70% for the Louvre and Versailles' Palace). Despite the start of the vaccination campaign, the risk of a resumption of the epidemic remains very high, leading to new health restriction measures. "This context makes it difficult to plan into the future".
