NECSTouR and NIT advised on Tourism and Sustainable Mobility the CIVITAS Destinations' Partners

Mrs Sandra de Puig as NECSTouR coordinator and Mr Ulf Sonntag as Head of Market Research at the Institute for Tourism Research in Northern Europe of Kiel (NIT-Kiel) presented in Elba Island their recommendations on tourism and sustainable mobility to the destinations managers partners of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS Project.

The project. Together with NIT, NECSTouR is supporting the EU project CIVITAS DESTINATIONS through its tourism expertise in the development of sustainable mobility concepts for destinations located in the following partner regions: Funchal in Madeira, Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, Valletta in Malta, Portoferraio and Rio Marina in Elba, Rethymno in Crete and Limassol in Cyprus.

The analysis. The workshop in Elba has been the occasion for Mrs de Puig and Mr Sonntag to present their findings and reccomendationson the destinations' business models and local dissemination plans, but also to inspire the participants with innovative ideas for more tourism related information and marketing and for making buying the mobility offers as easy as possible.

Inspiring Cases. NECSTouR presented also some inspiring cases on Sustainable Mobility and Tourism gathered among its members:

- Sardinia: Sardinian Regional plan for Cycling Mobility
- Trento: Trentino Guest Card
- Barcelona City Council: Barcelona Tourism Mobility Strategy (EMT)
- ANVR: Tour Operators Approach to Sustainable Mobility
