Portuguese Presidency of the EU: Which Role for Tourism Recovery?

Portugal just took the Presidency of the Council of the European Union Until 30 June 2021. NECSTouR welcomes the willingness to include tourism in the presidency programme as one of the strategic sectors to Promote Europe’s recovery, cohesion and values.

Committee of Regions: Regions and cities use the COVID-19 crisis to spark a debate on resilience and sustainability in the tourism sector

On 8 December, an opinion drafted by Manuel Alejandro Cardenete Flores (ES/Renew Europe), Deputy Minister for Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration of the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Vice-President of NECSTouR, was presented during the plenary session of the Committee of Regions.

Report: Star Cities Learning Session on Products and Marketing

The Interreg Europe Star Cities project organised a virtual interregional learning session from October 20 to 22. Adapting its work programme to the sanitary situation, the event was originally intended to take place in Hamburg, Germany.

Smart Tourism Tools in the Mediterranean Destinations

Promoted at the CETT Smart Tourism Congress, the online workshop showcased smart tourism tools developed by three different projects dealing with Mediterranean destinations. Two of them were represented by NECSTouR members: Andalusia and Veneto.

NECSTouR vision and Regional Best Practices on synergies between Tourism and Health in the current Covid-19 Pandemic

On the 28th of October, Mr Tomaso Comazzi form the NECSTouR Secretariat brought figures and best practices on how European Tourism and Health Regional Departments are working in close cooperation to ensure safe tourist destinations and boost confidence and trust in consumers. This at the webinar organised by the Promis network.

 

"Better Places to Live and Visit" to enhance dialogue between Culture and Tourism and re-build the sector

NECSTouR President was part of the jury who assigned the ‘Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism’ Awards 2020. At the Award Ceremony he brought the NECSTouR vision - as summarised into the Barcelona Declaration “Better Places to Live, Better Places to Visit” - on how to enhance dialogue between the entire tourism value chain and local communities and rebuilt the sector after COVID-19 crisis.

 

The CHARM Project organised its Bridge Event on Technologies in Rural Areas during the Forum Turistic

At the occasion of the Forum TurisTIC, two of NECSTouR projects took the stage. Mainly, it was the CHARM project with its bridge event to talk about “Technologies applied in rural areas: adding value to the tourist product”. But the Interreg MED STC project also took the opportunity to organise an online transferring workshop with Spanish stakeholders.

The Vision of European Regions for the Tourism of Tomorrow in 2050 Released

NECSTouR Regions agreed on their vision for the future European Agenda for Tourism 2050 and committed to mainstream the EU Recovery Plan to finance a sustainable recovery of the tourism ecosystem. This at the latest Extraordinary General Assembly meeting last 2nd of October.

NECSTouR calls for a Tourism Marshall Plan Towards a Sustainable Recovery of the Sector

NECSTouR calls the European Regions to finance sustainable tourism building the Marshall Plan Tourism industry deserves.
Guidelines has been released to support the Regional efforts in achieving this crucial mission for the sector.
