AIM:

The project builds up an integrated approach to address mobility and tourism, testing balanced strategies to face the rising challenges of these two growing sectors and to achieve sustainable development and a better quality of life in Funchal, Limassol, Rethymno, Elba, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Valletta.

NECSTouR and NIT advised on Tourism and Sustainable Mobility the CIVITAS Destinations' Partners

Mrs Sandra de Puig as NECSTouR coordinator and Mr Ulf Sonntag as Head of Market Research at the Institute for Tourism Research in Northern Europe of Kiel (NIT-Kiel) presented in Elba Island their recommendations on tourism and sustainable mobility to the destinations managers partners of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS Project.

Sardinian Regional plan for Cycling Mobility

The regional plan for cycling mobility of Sardinia (Italy) is a project involving the entire island.

The plan establishes a network of cycling and intermodal (bike+train) routes, with the reuse of the many abandoned minor roads and railways, along with new dedicated sections for soft mobility.

Barcelona Tourism Mobility Strategy (EMT)

The Tourism Mobility Strategy (EMT) structures a global analysis of the patterns of tourism mobility in Barcelona. The EMT has 12 concrete actions to facilitate the fit of tourism mobility with daily mobility to make the city more liveable and sustainable.

Trentino Guest Card

The Trentino Guest Card "Holiday including experiences” is the tourist card that is valid throughout the region currently with members from 11 tourist sectors.

The Card includes unlimited use of all public transport (urban and rural buses and trains on provincial routes) and access to more than 100 services such as museums, castles, attractions and many conventions and discounts on further services.

NECSTouR and NIT are contributing as tourism experts in the European project CIVITAS DESTINATIONS (https://civitas.eu/destinations) aiming at addressing integrated measures on sustainable mobility for citizens and tourists in insular territories.

As such, we would like to map NECSTouR Members expertise and experiences in working with Sustainable Mobility in Tourism.
