Andalusia Strategic Projects on Cyclotourism

Government of Andalusia is involved in in three projects aiming at promoting cyclotourism as a way of tackling overcrowded touristic areas, giving more sustainable options to visitors and tourists as well as contributing to boost the economy of inland, rural and more isolated areas : Eurovelo 1 & 8 and the Eco-Cicle.

Croatian Presidency of the EU Prioritises Responsible and Sustainable Tourism, in Line with the NECSTouR Vision


From the 1st of January to the 30th of June 2020, Croatia is taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for its first time. NECSTouR strongly salutes the inclusion of tourism in the Croatian program as a challenge for both sustainability and competitiveness.

Västra Götaland Defends Sustainable Tourism as a Catalyst for Regional Development during OECD Workshop


Helena HOLMBERG from Västra Götaland, a Member of NECSTouR, was invited in Vienna to present her region’s and NECSTouR’s work on sustainable tourism during a session on multi-level governance for regional tourism development during OECD Workshop on December, 12-13.

NECSTouR Participates to the First Steering Committee Meeting for the Sustainable Tourism Community

The MED Sustainable Tourism Community met for its first Steering Committee Meeting and participated to the Lead Partner Seminar of the Interreg MEd Programme on December 10th and 11th in Marseille. NECSTouR permanent secretariat attended both events.

NECSTouR President, Mr Patrick Torrent, presented during the final conference of the Interreg MED Project MITOMED+ (Models of Integrated Tourism in the MEDiterranean Plus) how NECSTouR will ensure the further capitalisation and dissemination of the main project’s achievements.

Visit Scotland advocates for Sustainable Tourism Growth in a Changing Climate at their Annual St Andrew's Lecture


Lord Thurso, Chair of Visit Scotland, a member of NECSTouR, delivered this year’s St. Andrew’s Lecture on 26 November in Brussels. Almost 100 representatives from the tourism industry, networks, EU institutions, academics, journalists and other stakeholders were attending, including NECSTOuR permanent secretariat.


NECSTouR Invited to Establish Synergies at the Inaugural Conference of MED PEARLS Project in Barcelona


NECSTouR Permanent Secretariat was invited by NECSTouR presidency the Catalonia Region  - leader of the MED PEARLS initiative to moderate a roundtable during their inaugural conference on “The Mediterranean As Innovative, Integral and Unique Destination for Slow Tourism” on the 19th of november in Barcelona.


NECSTouR Met the Municipal Council of Ringkøbing-Skjern to Discuss Opportunities and Next Steps


NECSTouR Secretariat met with the Municipal Council of Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality - part of the NECSTouR member Danish Western Coast Partnership - to discuss cooperation on Sustainable Tourism, Smart Funding, EU Policies, on the 14th of November at the Central Denmark EU Office in Brussels.

NECSTouR shares good practices from its members and the CHARM project on Rural Tourism in Galicia

NECSTouR was invited by the Galicia Region, a NECSTouR member, to take part of their conference about the future of the rural world, including agritourism, taking place in Santiago de Compostela, from the 5th to the 8th of November. Sandra de Puig, head of policy and knowledge at NECSTouR permanent secretariat, presented the CHARM project and the initiatives on rural tourism from different NECSTouR members.
