Project Summary

In the framework of the European Digital Europe Programme, supported by the European Commission, DEPLOYTOUR is a 3 year project launched in October 2024 which aims to develop a trusted Common European Tourism Data Space (ETDS).

It is built on the blueprint developed by two preparatory actions for the European Tourism Data Space DATES and DSFT.

DEPLOYTOUR is a strategic initiative to boost the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the tourism sector. It addresses the challenges of fragmented and inaccessible tourism data by enhancing access to information, empowering SMEs and DMOs in their digital and green transition, and fostering innovative practices, upskilling, and productivity for a stronger and more sustainable industry.

DEPLOYTOUR supports the ETDS initiative through:

  • Technical infrastructure: Developing and deploying the infrastructure of the Common Tourism European Data Space.
  • Governance framework: Establishing the rules and roles of the different stakeholders involved in the governance of the future ETDS.
  • Real-life implementation projects: Deploying 5 use case pilots to show the tangible advantages of the ETDS and its impact on the European tourism sector.
  • Synergies and connections: Ensuring interoperability, transversality, complementarity and synergies with other data and tourism initiatives.
NECSTouR's Role

Throughout the course of the DEPLOUTOUR project, NECSTouR will participate by delivering key tasks:

  • Contribute to the definition of the future governance model of the European Tourism Data Space. NECSTouR will bring the voices of its members & ensure that this governance model considers their needs and priorities.
  • Assist and support the NECSTouR ToT Lab Premium Members participating in the pilot use cases that will be tested in the project. In particular, NECSTouR will actively participate in two of the five planned pilots:
    • Pilot number 2: Resilience and Competitiveness in Mature Destinations, in which the Andalusia region will participate.
    • Pilot number 5: Empowering SMEs in Tourism, in which the Lapland region will participate.
