NECSTouR has officially joined the European Climate Pact, becoming the first and only tourism network to join the Pact. This partnership strengthens our commitment to address climate change and to contribute to the EU’s climate-neutrality goals.
Launched by the European Commission as part of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Pact is a movement of people united by a shared mission to build a more sustainable Europe and help the EU to become climate-neutral by 2050. The Pact brings individuals, communities and organisations together to fight climate change and adapt to its consequences. The Community includes over 1,200 Ambassadors and 110 Partner organisations across all 27 Member States. The Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission (DG CLIMA) oversees the European Climate Pact, supported by a Secretariat that brings the Pact Community together and coordinates activities at EU level.
As a Partner, NECSTouR will work closely with the Climate Pact to inspire action, support events and share best practices that help drive climate engagement and systemic change across Europe. Our network is uniquely placed to act as a catalyst for the Pact’s goals, raising awareness and engaging destination management organisations and regional governments. This has a potential spillover effect across the wider tourism value chain, bringing the realities and commitments of the tourism sector to the European Pact agenda.
European Regions hold a privileged position in bridging the EU level and local territories, enabling the development of impactful projects in tourism and climate action, as exemplified through some of the active regions that make up our Climate Hub community.
