NECSTouR Brings Together Europe’s Tourism Sector for the European Week of Regions and Cities

NECSTouR will be participating in the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) 2026, the EU’s largest event dedicated to Cohesion Policy. This year’s theme is “Strong regions, strong Europe” with 70 events taking place across Brussels and demonstrating the central role of regions in delivering benefits for European citizens.

Regions at the heart of Europe

On 13 October, NECSTouR will host European, national and regional policymakers to connect, collaborate and identify how they can work together to drive lasting changes across Europe’s tourism sector. The reception will facilitate collaboration with stakeholders and build relationships across the continent to help ensure the effective delivery of the upcoming European Sustainable Tourism Strategy.

On 14 October, Île-de-France will be participating in the official programme of the EWRC with an interactive workshop titled “Too many visitors, too little space? Managing tourism mobility in cities”. Organised by the EU Urban Mobility Observatory, this session will provide participants with insights of how to manage pressure on transport systems and public spaces with an influx of visitors while providing quality visitor experience that does not impact the residents’ quality of life.

This session offers a space to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges and co-create practical solutions that can be applied across diverse European contexts. The workshop will conclude with a set of shared insights and learning points that will enable participants to utilise the expert knowledge in regions to deliver for both residents and visitors.
