NECSTouR contributed to the 21st edition of the TourMIS Workshop and International Seminar for the first time co-organisers alongside Modul University, the European Travel Commission and City DNA.
NECSTouR’s addition to the programme regional perspectives have been placed front and centre at one of Europe’s leading tourism data management events. As co-organisers NECSTouR was able to demonstrate how regions are at the forefront of monitoring and measuring tourism’s economic, social and environmental impacts.
Chief Data Scientist Daniel Iglesias Gonsalvez demonstrated how NECSTouR’s Tourism of Tomorrow Lab (ToT Lab) supports the development of practical approaches and solutions to enhance regional tourism intelligence. During this session, participants also heard from ToT Lab member Turismo Andaluz represented by Daniel Caro, who provided first-hand insights into how regions are using data and evidence to support sustainable and balanced tourism development.
The second day concluded with NECSTouR Strategy Director Cristina Nunez Cuesta reaffirming the importance of collaboration between the national, regional and city levels to ensure tourism intelligence is used effectively to enhance visitor experiences and the quality of life of residents.
Through NECSTouR’s participation in the 21st edition of the TourMIS Workshop and International Seminar, regional expertise in tourism data management is properly represented in this major European data forum.
