The INTENSE project envisaged the development of sustainable tourism as a prospect of socio-economic growth for the cross-border area, through the identification and integrated management of a system of sustainable tourist itineraries and the promotion of tourism cycling and hiking trails that enhance the natural-cultural heritage of the partner territories.

In Regione Liguria an integrated offer promotion has been created, thanks to the richness in outdoor opportunities and in certified villages, contributing to the diversification of tourist presence all along the year and to the improvement of the integration coast-hinterland.

8 municipalities created connecting routes (walking paths) from the certified villages to the Sentiero Liguria pathway (a system of trails of 675 km with 30 stages from Luni to Ventimiglia).

These paths allow visitors to discover, step by step, unusual views and landscapes suspended between the blue of the sea and the green of the Mediterranean scrub and enable visitors to profit of typical food and cultural heritage of the villages. Moreover a connection is foreseen with the main cycle paths located in the Coast (the most famous known as “area 24”).
