Tourism Stakeholder Workshop “Investing in the European Tourism of Tomorrow”

The Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism partnership organised a half- day event with European and regional stakeholders / opinion leaders to further elaborate on the investment projects and their international dimension for the two strategic thematic areas: Access to data and digitalisation; Building resilience (climate change, green mobility, accessibility and connectivity).

Results. The event discussed about some new Investment projects and new potential investment opportunities identified, but also the regional stakeholder engagement and ground for extended partnership discussed and defined the next steps.

Participant profile. The event saw the participation of Regional Stakeholders, Opinion Leaders (Cluster managers, leaders from relevant tourism associations and organisations, managers of leading companies operating at international level), EURADA and, of course, the Partnership on Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism.

Thematic areas. In the meeting, the two thematic areas of the Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism initiative has been presented. A special focus has been dedicated for future interregional investment projects through the presentation of some inspiring ongoing projects implemented by the partners and the stakeholders.

Access to Data. Under thi field, the following ongoing initiatives has been presented: Mrs Ana Moiche from Andalusia presented MITOMED+ Project; Mr Nicola Gronchi, President Confesercenti Toscana presented the Smart Destinations project; Mr Ernesto López Abejón, Fundación Santa María la Real presented Herit-data; Mrs Elizabeth Aston from Amadeus presented the Big data projects of Amadeus.

Resilience. A European cluster for hotel energy efficiency has been presented by Mr Nigel Claridge on Sustainable Innovation and the Smart Tourism Mobility project has been presented by Mr Juan Jesús Garcia, Amadeus

Final Report. The result of workshop will be the base for the Strategic Workshop on the Digitalisation and Safety for Tourism Partnership in Rovaniemi, Lapland, on the 10th April 2018.

European Industry Day. The meeting has been organised on the 22nd of February at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, at the conclusion of the workshop "Investing in the European Tourism of Tomorrow" in the framework of the European Industry Day.
