14/10/2024
On 14th October, NECSTouR Vice-President Patrick Torrent, representing the Catalan Tourist Board, proudly participated in the Tourism Stakeholder Event in Brussels to present Catalonia's pledge under the Transition Pathway for Tourism. The event brought together key stakeholders to share the latest policy developments in the European tourism sector alongside inspiring examples and updates from the European Commission.
During his presentation, Patrick Torrent highlighted the Catalan Commitment for Responsible Tourism, a transformative initiative that unites over 200 organizations across Catalonia under a common mission. The initiative’s governance model prioritizes Public-private-resident partnerships, ensuring that local communities are at the heart of tourism development and fostering an inclusive, sustainable ecosystem.
Torrent also discussed Catalonia's collaboration with NECSTouR and the alignment with the NECSTouR 2030 Pathway, a strategic framework developed in partnership with all NECSTouR members and under the guidelines of the European Tourism Transition Pathway. This roadmap focuses on three key pillars for the sector’s transformation: Climate Action, Knowledge and Data, and Governance and Strategies.
Looking ahead, NECSTouR remains committed to building momentum for change and advancing the future of tourism, with continued efforts toward a more sustainable and inclusive industry, including at next year’s European Tourism Day. Together, we are paving the way for a better future for tourism across Europe!
