DATES: Turning the vision of a European Tourism Data Space into reality

    19/12/2022

NECSTouR proudly announces to be part of the EU-funded DATES Tourism Data Space project. The aim of this project is to explore approaches and options for deploying a secure and trusted tourism data space, ensuring transparent control of data access, use and re-use. The project focuses on developing governance and business models while providing a shared roadmap that will ensure the coordination of the tourism ecosystem stakeholders and the connection between data ecosystems at EU level and interconnected data spaces in other sectors.

The project promotes the vision of a prosperous tourism data space and recommends clear strategies on how to inspire and motivate all key tourism stakeholders to collaboratively build a powerful interconnected tourism data space. Besides providing leadership and practical advice about how every stakeholder in the tourism value chain can contribute and utilise data streams, the added benefits of a European Tourism Data Space will be highlighted from each stakeholder’s perspective. In more general terms, DATES supports the digital transformation of the sector, fostering competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability as key success factors to maintain Europe’s leading role.

DATES aims to build the Tourism Data Space in close cooperation with the tourism ecosystem. The starting point for this consists of mapping and analysing the state of the art of existing data-sharing initiatives in the ecosystem. Therefore, a survey has been created which aims to investigate which data is needed for the tourism sector stakeholders and which data-sharing initiatives in the tourism sector are known/used by stakeholders. We would kindly ask you to fill in this survey here

Role of NECSTouR

The consortium of the DATES project counts 13 European partners from the whole tourism data space value chain . Any Solution  is leading this project.  Partners involved are Tecnalia, IDC, Arctur, Ministero Del Turismo Republica Italiana, International Data Spaces Association, Avoris, Amadeus, Intellera, aNewGovernance, Outdooractive and T4.0.

Through the Tourism of Tomorrow Lab department, NECSTouR will ensure the NUTS2 tourism stakeholders level  is duly identified and engaged into DATES activities, delivering use cases to test and validate the identified priority datasets and data themes, supporting the governance and business framework definition. NECSTouR will thus reassure the voice of the users and beneficiaries.
