The Forum TurisTIC is an annual event organized in Barcelona by EURECAT technology center, promoted by Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Provincial Council, aiming to connect innovation and technology with the tourism industry. At this occasion, the CHARM project is organising its bridge event on technologies in rural area and the Interreg MED Sustainable Tourism community is holding a workshop on all-year tourism tools. This year, the forum will be both virtual and in person in Barcelona.
“Towards new models of tourism. Technological solutions aimed at breaking up concentrations of tourists and promoting off-season tourism“ is the slogan of the 2020 edition. The eight edition of the congress will focus on the new tourist models, which have had an expansion due to the new consumption habits generated by the global health crisis that we are facing in 2020.
Sustainable Tourism Workshop: Tools for Thinning Tourist Density and Promoting Off-Season Tourism in the Mediterranean
From 12h10 to 12h40, the MED Sustainable Tourism Community is organising a workshop “Tools for Thinning Tourist Density and Promoting Off-Season Tourism in the Mediterranean”.The workshop will be introduced by Josep Rodriguez (DIBA - Barcelona Provincial Council, lead partner of the Sustainable Tourism Community and a NECSTouR member). CHARM Bridge event: Immersive Experiences in European Charming Villages
From 12h40 to 15h20,the CHARM project is organising a session about “Technologies applied in rural areas: adding value to the tourist product” where different speakers will explain how technologies could help little villages to develop sustainable tourism projects to attract more visitors and help the local economy. The goal of this session is to share experiences on how to apply new technologies, especially the ones related to the Cultural and Creative Industries: Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality in order to add value to the tourism product and contribute to the development of the local economy in rural areas.
