NECSTouR vision and Regional Best Practices on synergies between Tourism and Health in the current Covid-19 Pandemic

On the 28th of October, Mr Tomaso Comazzi form the NECSTouR Secretariat brought figures and best practices on how European Tourism and Health Regional Departments are working in close cooperation to ensure safe tourist destinations and boost confidence and trust in consumers. This at the webinar organised by the Promis network.

 

Three Regional best practices highlighted:

Canary Islands. The plan adopted by the Canary Islands to become a global laboratory for redesigning security tourism protocols, applying them on the islands and sharing them with other tourist destinations in the world.

Catalonia. The “BCN Safe City - Safe Visit” Project promoted by the Barcelona City Council to guarantee hygiene and health measures and offer confidence and security in the city’s spaces.

Istria. The recommendation for prevention of infections for each category of Tourism operator released by the Istrian Regional Task force on COVID-19 as part of their “COVID-19 and Tourism Action Plan”.

 

NECSTouR Balance and Vision

NECSTouR shared also a Balance of the Tourism Season in 2020 in its Regions and its vision for the future European Agenda for Tourism 2050, including a call to:

Promote Europe as a safe tourist destination, boost confidence and trust in consumers for travel and in tourism stakeholders to provide tourism services in the EU by coordinating and further harmonising safety measures imposed by Member States as they work to contain the spread of COVID-19.

 

Cooperation with PROMIS

The webinar “Tourism and health emergency: lessons learned and future scenarios for healthy tourism” is part of a long-standing cooperation between NECSTouR and Promis (PRogramma Mattone Internazionale Salute). It was organized by Veneto Region, with the participation of the other Italian Regions member of NECSTouR.

Promis promotes the Health Sector – including sanitary Tourism - of Italian Regions in Europe and vice-versa, in the framework of a synergistic and multi-level collaboration.
